Wood Carving 2 Day Course – 15th and 16th February 2020
2 in stock
Have you ever wanted to learn the traditional craft of Wood Carving? This 2 day course is suitable for those just starting out and also for carvers who would like to develop their skills further. For beginners you will start with the introduction of the tools and techniques and materials used for making a wood carving by hand. This will be followed by a small carving project to become familiar with the basic skills. After covering the basics you will move on to a new project that involves creating a larger relief carving.
For the more experienced carvers the course is an opportunity to work under the guidance of Pete Schwartz who will help you develop your skills further. You are welcome to bring a project already in progress which you can work on over the 2 days.
The day is run in a very flexible format and, as mentioned above, is suitable for beginners and also for more experienced carvers. All the tools you need will be made available and the lime wood blanks are included in the course fee. Any tools you bring should be labelled as your own and, for safety reasons, will need to be approved for use.
The course leader for the day is Pete Schwartz, a carver who has been teaching and working in the local area for over 30 years. As well as running courses Pete also makes many bespoke items – village signs, one off carvings, garden furniture ……. and ‘Welcome Signs’ like the one here at Stanwick Lakes!
